During World War II the passenger liner "Goliath" is sunk by a German submarine. Portions of the ship's hull remain airtight, and some of the passengers and crew survive. Over the decades they build a rigidly regulated society completely isolated from the surface world, until in contemporary times a diving team begins to explore the wreck.

The series followed Carl, Andy and Jon as three self-proclaimed Generation X-ers going through life without any real responsibilities to worry them. However, whilst this was understandable in the Madchester era of the late 1980s, is it acceptable now as they approach thirty? When does the party end?To a soundtrack of North West England bands and musicians, including New Order,The Stone Roses and The Charlatans to name but a few, the show displayed a lazy world of drinking, drug consumption, and casual sex. However, the show was careful to show the consequences of such lifetsyle choices and searingly touched on suicide, unwanted pregnancies, apathy and disillusionment.

Series One- The responsibilities of potential fatherhood are weighing down on each in a different way: Carl's girlfriend is desperate for commitment, Jon is torturing himself over the daughter he gave up for adoption when he was 17, and Andy discovers that it is he who may be soon enjoying the pleasures of being a parent. This sets off a series of events, leading each to explore their new challenges and grow past their Gen X labels. Jon slowly builds a relationship with both his daughter and his mother (Tina). While, Andy's relationship with Emma experiences its ups and downs, with an unfortunate ending. Carl attempts to settle both his financial and personal life to that of an adult.

Series Two- Carl and Emma are in love, although Carl is reluctant to broadcast the fact. Forced to do so has negative effects on his friendships. Jon begins a downward spiral that ends with a second suicide attempt forcing him to grow up and become a parent. Andy returns and havoc for Carl and Emma soon ensue. By the end of the series each character has found their place in the world.

At the heart of this roller-coaster ride through the landscape of contemporary Britain lies 17 year-old David's epic quest to find the father who abandoned him when he was only four.

Actors: John Harkins, Joanne Froggatt, Raquel Cassidy, Lesley Sharp, Lee Ingleby

Lee Ingleby gives a performance of thoughtful intensity as David, the titular Nature Boy in this BBC drama which combines a personal quest for an absent father with contemporary environmental themes. The first episode finds 17-year-old David in care, illustrating his love of animals and the peace he finds at a nearby wildlife reserve. Following shocking violence, and haunted by visions (recalling the strongly environmental Edge of Darkness) of his father (Paul McGann), David goes on a modern-day odyssey throughout which, like Tom Jones before him, women find his naïve innocent charm irresistible. David though, falls for environmental activist Jenny (Joanne Froggatt) and becomes involved with industrial pollution and the battle to save an ancient woodland. After the excellence of the first three episodes, the finale moves into not entirely convincing science fiction territory, and offers a resolution which raises as many questions as it answers. Nevertheless Nature Boy is an atmospheric, moving rite of passage, with something of the feel of Kes to it, which avoids simple-minded polemics, and packs a raw edge (and language) that some will find shocking

Three London lads are off to sow those wild oats, but find themselves overwhelmed by the weaker sex. Told in flashback full of nostalgia, Dave, Ronno and Charlie are outmatched and outwitted left and right, by their own actions as well as not-easily intimidated females.

This program was hilarious from the get-go, with a 4 pound a week rented caravan, a forgotten tin opener, a fold out bed that wouldn't work, a dropped cigarette, morning whizzes.
The usage of songs in this program was also well done, with the guys singing 'Run, Rabbit, Run' when they are trying to purchase condoms (they call them 'johnnies', this scene was also hilarious), 'Magic Moment' when they are riding on the bikes (sounds like Perry Como singing) and especially 'Kiss Me, Honey, Honey, Kiss Me' with Murray and her two friends

Blade on the Feather is a television drama by Dennis Potter, broadcast by TV on 19 October 1980 as the first in a loosely connected trilogy of plays exploring language and betrayal. A pastiche of the John Le Carré spy thriller and transmitted eleven months after Anthony Blunt was exposed as the 'fourth man', the drama combines two of Potter's major themes: the visitation motif and political disillusionment. The play's title is taken from "The Eton Boating Song".
